The Challenge

My client first came to me because she was struggling with a particularly tense relationship with a senior colleague. She also lacked awareness of how her body language and word choices communicated tension and judgement in moments when she did not feel this way. People thought she was mad most of the time, which caused friction in her relationships.

WHAT WE DID

A customized approach to 6 week coaching

We started 1:1 communication coaching with a tailored program to specifically meet her goals and objectives. Each session was flexible and customized depending on any relevant challenges she was currently facing at work.  

Extending to a 12 week engagement

After providing needed feedback balanced with confidence boosting exercises, the progress she made in our work was confirmed by co-workers’ comments and positive feedback. This prompted her to extend our engagement by another six weeks. We focused on equipping her with communication tools she could continue to practice and improve.

THE RESULT

One of the best outcomes from the coaching was to see her originally challenging work relationship move from one of tension, to a working relationship that was not only comfortable and tension free, but also VERY enjoyable with trust and understanding.  

This was not an explicit goal of the sessions before we began our work together, but improving communication had a profound impact on relationships with her co-workers.
